Hey there, beautiful souls! It’s already March, can you believe it? Time truly has wings. And with International Women’s Day just around the corner, what better theme for our chat today than celebrating the essence of womanhood?
So, I stumbled upon this beautiful story online, about a conversation between God and an angel. It goes something like this: The angel, curious, asks God why He’s spending so much time on creating a woman. God explains, “You see, women are complex. They can handle stress, carry heavy burdens, and still manage to be graceful, strong, and compassionate, all with just two hands. They have this incredible emotional depth, symbolized by their tears, which can express everything from sorrow to immense pride. Despite their softness, they have this resilience that’s just awe-inspiring. They can keep everyone happy, offer unconditional love, even in the face of personal loss.”
But then, the angel asks, “Is she perfect?” To which God replies, “No, she’s not perfect. Her one flaw is that she often forgets her worth.”
This hits home, doesn’t it? How often have we, as women, felt demotivated, overlooked, or not taken seriously, just because of our gender? And why does it affect us? It’s because we’re constantly seeking validation from others, putting their opinions on a pedestal, trying to keep everyone happy. But guess what? It’s impossible to please everyone, and it’s high time we accept that.
So many of us lose our sanity over this, sacrificing our time, relationships, and even a part of our lives, all because we’ve pegged our self-worth to someone else’s opinion. We need to remember, our worth isn’t defined by others.
INVEST
This Women’s Day, let’s make a pact to believe and Invest in ourselves, to remind ourselves of our worth, and to find peace within.
And speaking of investing, that’s our word for today – INVEST. Why? Because as time zips by, I find myself reflecting on my 23 years in the wellness industry, and before that, my days as a primary school teacher.
When I was married, I was thrust into the world of household responsibilities. Being a full-time housewife, I felt trapped, criticized at every turn. Despite always excelling in my teens and my early adulthood. I felt caged, worthless.
Not that being a full-time house-wife is bad thing. It’s in fact a very noble and honorable thing to do for your family. When i decide to be an housewife it was an independent decision, but what happens when your effort and sacrifices are not appreciated and questioned at every turn. Things become toxic and that was not what i envisioned for myself.
The turning point came with the birth of my son. I decided to leave that toxic environment behind. Aa a mother, I didn’t want my son raised in such negativity. I remember standing in the main town area in Kalimpong, just me, my child, and a bag of belongings, with only 100 INR(around 2 USD at that time) in my pocket. But I knew one thing for sure, that I would fit in.
So here are 6 areas I have invested in and I hope this helps you too:
1. Invest in Communication Skills
Communication is not just about using big words or speaking perfect English. It’s about expressing yourself, sharing your ideas, and most importantly, listening to others. I learned this through personal experience.
Despite not attending a fancy school, I made friends who did. My active participation in school and with friends helped me improve my communication skills. It wasn’t about using perfect grammar but about presenting myself confidently while respecting the opinions of others. This made a significant difference in my life.
When I needed a job, my ability to communicate effectively helped me to get my foot in the door. Therefore, don’t shy away from conversations, especially the important ones. The better you get at expressing yourself, the more confident you’ll feel.
2. Invest in a Skill to Monetise
I understand that it can be challenging to think about picking up a new skill that can bring you more money, especially if you feel like it’s too late to start. But let me assure you that it’s never too late to learn something new and take a step towards a brighter future.
I’ve been in your shoes before, and I know how daunting it can be to take a leap of faith. However, I want you to know that I believe in you and your ability to succeed. So, take a moment to think about what interests you, and let’s explore what skills are in demand right now.
Whether it’s coding, crafting, or cooking, there’s always something that can not only bring you joy but also potentially add to your income. Remember, you’ve got this, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.

3. Invest in Relationships
Now, let’s talk about the people in your life. We do feel overwhelmed by the demands of everyday life. However, it’s important to remember to take a pause and think about the people who matter most to you. Your family and friends are the pillars of your support system, and they deserve to know how important they are to you.
Take the time to show them how much you value them, express your gratitude, and nurture these relationships. They are the ones who will stand by you through thick and thin, and good relationships with them are truly invaluable.
4. Invest in Self-care
Self-care is of utmost importance and it’s not just limited to spa days or pampering yourself. It’s about loving yourself enough to take care of your physical and mental health. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with our daily responsibilities and forget to take a moment to breathe. But, caring for yourself isn’t selfish, it’s necessary.
So, make sure to prioritize yourself and do whatever it takes to make yourself feel good. Whether it’s going for a run, meditating, reading a book, or indulging in any other activity that makes you happy – always remember to take care of yourself.
5. Invest your Money
Alright, money talk. There’s a big difference between saving and investing. Start setting aside a bit of your paycheck as early as you can. It’s about preparing for the unexpected and making sure you’re not caught off guard. The internet is full of resources to help you understand how to invest wisely. Trust me, your future self will thank you.
6. Invest in Yourself
Last but not least, believe in your worth. If you’ve mastered a skill, leverage it. Create something meaningful and leave your mark. Never doubt your worth or your right to success.. Never think you’re not deserving of success. You are worthy of all the good things that come your way, but you’ve got to be willing to reach out and grab them.
